Frutoeste – Integrated Product Traceability Process

Following incidents in which fruit was delivered to the cooperative while still within the pre-harvest interval of plant protection products, a customized traceability software was developed to track the entire production process from the field to the point of sale.

This system includes all farm log records, agricultural plot identification, producer information, delivery date and time, delivered quantities, and the storage lot assigned in cold chambers.

Innovative features of the initiative / solution

The customized traceability software represents an innovative approach to managing the entire fruit production and supply chain. Unlike traditional paper-based records or fragmented systems, it digitally integrates all farm data, delivery information, and storage tracking into a single platform, enabling real-time monitoring and traceability from the field to the point of sale.

Results obtanied

The implementation of the customized traceability software has successfully ensured the safety of the products, by fully monitoring compliance with pre-harvest intervals for plant protection products. In addition, it has provided detailed data for each fruit pallet, including producer, plot, delivery time, quantity, and storage location. This level of traceability supports sales to large retail chains by meeting their stringent quality and compliance requirements, while also enhancing consumer trust in the safety and quality of the products.

Lessons learned

The digital traceability system has improved food safety, ensured full tracking of each fruit pallet, and enhanced operational efficiency. It also supports market access to large retailers and strengthens consumer trust in product quality.
