IMPACT

Productivity
The cooperative olive oil mill of Arróniz, with more than 5,500 members, is an active user of the Estación de Avisos developed by INTIA. This digital platform collects data from sampling points managed by both INTIA technicians and individual farmers and generates alerts and recommendations for the control of pests and diseases affecting the main crops in Navarre.
As a result, thousands of olive growers receive notifications when a treatment is truly necessary, allowing them to act at the most effective moment.

Farm challenges

Crop protection treatments were traditionally applied according to fixed calendars, leading to inefficiencies, unnecessary applications and suboptimal pest control.

Assistance / Boost program

INTIA technical advisory services.

Innovative features of the initiative / solution

  • Collaborative data collection involving technicians and farmers.
  • Centralised digital platform for analysing pest and disease evolution.
  • Automated alerts supporting timely and need-based interventions.

Results obtanied

  • Reduction in calendar-based treatments.
  • Improved effectiveness of phytosanitary applications.
  • More rational use of inputs and reduced environmental impact.

Lessons learned

Digitalisation is most effective when combined with farmer collaboration and trust. Shared data and coordinated monitoring enable better decision-making at both individual and collective levels.
