IMPACT

Productivity

The TECH4E project aims to accelerate the digital adoption of SMEs in Extremadura. As a partner in the project, CICYTEX focused specifically on SMEs in the agricultural sector. After identifying persistent barriers to the adoption of digital technologies—mainly high costs, lack of connectivity and poor technical training—it was decided to focus the intervention on low-cost, long-range IoT technologies based on LoRaWAN. The initiative was developed through practical training, transfer workshops, personalised technical assistance and pilot projects on real farms.

As a result, the technical capabilities of the sector were strengthened, the implementation of affordable sensors was facilitated, and a local ecosystem of digitising companies was revitalised, promoting the effective adoption of digital solutions in the agricultural sector.

Farm challenges

  • Lack of practical training in IoT technologies applied to agriculture.
  • Difficulty accessing affordable digital solutions.
