IMPACT

Productivity

The DigiFarm2all project implemented a technological pilot using IoT technology, collecting proximal and remote data (weather station, soil sensors, and satellite-derived vegetation indices), along with a web platform and application of management and risk models for crop health, irrigation, and fertility.

Farm challenges

Agricultural plot located in Ventosa, in the Torres Vedras region, an area characterized by high humidity, which makes the control of fungal diseases challenging.

Innovative features of the initiative / solution

Use of meteorological sensors to provide data for prediction models of downy mildew, powdery mildew, and Lobesia botrana.

Results obtanied

Improved control of downy mildew with reduced reliance on fungicides.

Lessons learned

Knowing precisely when the primary infection of downy mildew occurs helps farmers reduce fungicide use by preventing or delaying secondary infections and applying fungicides only when necessary.
