IMPACT

Productivity

A reference farm equipped with weather sensors, soil sensors, a data management platform, phytosanitary alerts, and an autonomous robot for weed control.

Farm challenges

Agricultural plot located in Maxial, in the Torres Vedras region, an area with significant phytosanitary challenges, particularly fire blight, staphylosis and scab. The plot faces constraints related to efficient irrigation and fertilization management, limited access to skilled labor, and high costs associated with weed control.

Innovative features of the initiative / solution

Using this combination of sensors allows for higher-quality production, improved phytosanitary and water management, while reducing input use. Autonomous weed-control robots are being tested to reduce costs and improve weed management.

Results obtanied

Reduction of production inputs, and efficient control of diseases and weeds.

Lessons learned

It is possible to maintain crop quality while using fewer pesticides and reducing irrigation.
